Lead Pastor
Rev. Lawrence Nyarko
Rev. Lawrence Nyarko began his ministry at Alderwood United Church, Etobicoke July 1, 2022. Lawrence is originally from Ghana, West Africa, where he grew up and attended Teacher’s College. Reverend Lawrence heard the call of Christ and to ministry as a young adult, eventually relocating to Canada.
Lawrence holds a Master of Divinity (MDiv.) degree from Emmanuel College. As well as receiving his Masters, Reverend Lawrence also graduated with a Batchelor of Science from the University of Toronto. He was ordained by the Toronto Conference on May 2016. He has served at Beach United Church in Toronto and Grace United Church in Brampton.
Although he values education, it is his passion to help bring people into a personal knowledge of God and a relationship with Jesus Christ. His vision for the local ministry unit is to help people nurture their faith in Christ through small groups, Bible studies, confirmation classes, teaching and prayer meetings. As a minister, God has called him to be a prophetic voice in the community. He stands with the oppressed, poor and the marginalized.
Lawrence is happily married to Helen Nyarko and they are blessed with two daughters. He believes in the transformative power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the love of God.

- Expressing the love of God in the community – We are a welcoming and diverse community who are loving inclusive through personal relationships. We actively support an end to food scarcity in our community.
